Bravo.

People who harken back wistfully to the early to mid-nineties as some sort of "golden age" at Camden Yards are off-base as far as I'm concerned.

From 1992-1995 (when I joined the Navy), you could hardly get tickets to the Yard. Not because the O's were great (they weren't) but because it was filled with a bunch of yuppies who were there to be seen. The ticket had prestige but many of the hardcore fans like myself ended up sitting way back in the left field bleachers. (At least I got to see Robin Yount and Mike Devereaux do their thing up close.)

Oh well.

So, tell us how you really feel! :-)

Really, I'm glad you enjoyed the day. I think the weather may have had something to do with the attendance, but the "crowds" at the Yard have been filled with empty seats for well over five years now. I get your point about rooting for the O's through thick and thin, but unfortunately in today's sports culture, everybody loves a winner. And when you lose, you lose in front of 10,000 empty seats.

I was at work and by the time I got home to turn on the game, it was over. That's the first time I can remember when I missed the whole game. I was hoping that the game was in high definition, but I never got a chance to find out.

Here's a link to an Baltimore Sun blog post where "fans" sound off on whether or not they still support the O's.
